Police say that when officers got to the home Monday in Red Deer County, they found the homeowner bleeding and a man dead with a gunshot wound

RED DEER, Alta. Mounties in central Alberta say they will not be charging a homeowner who shot and killed an intruder who broke into his home and beat him with a baseball bat.
Blackfalds RCMP say in a news release that when officers got to the home Monday in Red Deer County, they found the homeowner bleeding and a man dead with a gunshot wound.
They say witnesses told officers that the man had broken into the home and was found sleeping in a bed.
There was a confrontation and the intruder struck the homeowner several times with the bat.
Police say during the attack, the homeowner grabbed a gun and shot the man once.
They say that after consulting with Crown prosecutors, the decision was made not to lay charges.
